About This Project

The Spanish composer Javier Bayon is the winner of the 5th International Film Music Competition, which took place at Zurich Tonhalle on 23 September 2016 during the 12th Zurich Film Festival. Bayon received the Golden Eye ‘Best International Film Music 2016’. A special mention goes to the Romanian composer Lucian Zbarcea.
The award ceremony took place during a film music concert. Under the baton of Frank Strobel, Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra world-premiered the compositions of the five finalists and performed a selection of works by the great U.S. film composer John Williams. Presenter Sandra Studer took the audience through the evening.
Special thanks to Julian Beutel and Seth Boyden.
